Start With an Evaluation
After you self-refer or receive a referral from your health care provider and fill out your intake paperwork, we’ll schedule an evaluation with our pediatric occupational therapist to assess your child in the following areas:
- Fine motor skills
- Sensory processing
- Self-care skills
From these results, we provide recommendations and a care plan. We utilize individualized therapy to target your child’s unique skills needing additional support. We also provide parent/caregiver support to facilitate the carryover of skills mastered in therapy to the home setting.

Benefits of Pediatric Occupational Therapy
Our pediatric occupational therapist can help your child with the following:
Qigong Sensory Therapy for Autistic Children and Other Sensory Processing Disorders
For children with autism and other diagnoses where sensory stimulation is painful or stressful, Qigong Sensory Therapy (QST) is a type of peds occupational therapy that can yield results in as soon as 30 days.
QST is a touch-based program or type of massage that certified pediatric therapists teach parents to administer in their home. QST reduces the child’s symptoms. It is a unique therapy for autism because it focuses on sensory engagement as a precursor of social-emotional-behavioral needs.
- Development and growth is supported in all areas of autism: sensory, behavioral, social-emotional, communication, and motor skills.
- QST is the first consistently effective therapy for children who have not developed receptive language skills.
- Areas of pain resolve. Areas of numbness become more receptive.
- Sensory information in the environment is accepted through evidence-based, proven touch-based intervention.
- Parent-child connection improves.
- Sleep becomes more consistent.
- No waiting lists for treatment because parents are trained to administer QST.
- Costs are low because of minimal therapist time.
- Benefits are equal to or greater than the results from other commonly available therapies.
Pediatric Feeding Disorder Treatment
If your child appears to struggle with feeding or swallowing, RISE Pediatric Therapies can assist. It can be helpful to review our feeding milestones document to see if your child’s progress aligns with the milestones.
If you are concerned, our pediatric feeding specialist can evaluate your child to assess the oral and pharyngeal phases of feeding and swallowing:
- Our speech-language pathologist will assess the oral structures and oral motor skills used in consuming different textures, including liquids and solids.
- We observe and assess your child’s feeding position, behavior, and oral movements to ensure that your child is safe for oral eating.
- An infant feeding specialist can also support suck-swallow-breathe coordination in infants as they learn to feed.
Should your child need to learn alternative ways of eating, pediatric feeding therapy can support your child in safe oral trials, with physician clearance, and begin to develop a positive relationship with eating.
