Pediatric ABA Therapy
If your neurodivergent child is navigating behavior that needs support, help is available at RISE Pediatric Therapies (RPT). We understand the impact these behaviors can have on families, and we’re here to guide you toward positive change. Our team of specialists uses Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), a scientific approach to understanding and supporting behavior. We work with families of all exceptionalities, applying proven methods to help your child thrive. Contact us at (407) 904-1600 to learn more. We are located in West Orange County and proudly serve Orlando, FL, and the surrounding areas.
What Is ABA Pediatric Therapy?
ABA stands for applied behavior analysis. It is a type of therapy that helps improve behaviors and teaches new skills. ABA focuses on understanding why behaviors happen and works to increase beneficial behaviors (like communication and social skills) through positive reinforcement while decreasing challenging or interfering behaviors.

What Additional Skills Are Worked On in ABA Therapy?
During ABA therapy, we work on many different skills depending on the needs of your child. These might include any combination of the following:
ABA Services
At RISE Pediatric Therapies our goal with applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy is to see an increase in positive behaviors and a decrease in unwanted behaviors—such as tantrums, biting, and head banging. With the insight from our comprehensive evaluation, we’ll formulate a collaborative plan for your child. Your plan may include the following services.
The purpose of pediatric ABA therapy services is to reduce disruptive behaviors that are impactful or harmful to your child or other people. The therapist will work on replacing these behaviors with other skills, such as functional communication.
Therapists work on functional communication skills to teach children how to get their needs and wants met. This may include the following:
- Vocal speech
- Augmentative communication (strategies that support or replace spoken communication)
- Pictures
- Pointing
Our pediatric therapists work with your child to teach them skills such as how to dress themselves, eat with utensils, and brush their teeth. We can even assist with toilet training. The goal is to help your child live as independently as possible.
During one-on-one ABA therapy, a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) works directly with your child, utilizing the input and oversight of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Therapy can be done in your home, in the community, or at our center.
ABA caregiver training services are a crucial part of our service model. A BCBA will spend time with you to monitor your child’s progress. Training services can include the following:
- Check-ins regarding your child’s priorities and any further needs or concerns,
- Discussion strategies with a BCBA concerning techniques they use to help your child, and
- Instruction on how to work on the same skills at home to receive faster results.
Including caregivers in our services helps us achieve a whole-child, collaborative approach.
Other Services
In addition to pediatric ABA therapy for developmental delays, we also provide a comprehensive list of services available for children up to the age of adolescence.
